Lahaina Day 1-2…

My first day on the job-KP duty…
John, the Hawaii State DR director briefing all us new people on the culture here. I learned that Lahaina means scorched earth. Aloha means love. Respect is big here, give it and you will receive it…

Day 2 started early, a 45 minute drive to the recovery center to catch a bus to the burn area. No photos can be taken of any property that has been affected. About 20 or so gold shirts spread out throughout the small area where we are allowed to work. Some work was scheduled and others was solicited. I helped on two properties, did two assessments and generally helped out where I could.
