This story has two special thoughts for me.
One, Jesus, or Luke, never say that it is a parable. Neither the Good Samaritan! Both of these could have been actual events. I believe they were – no other parable names the character involved, nor provides such specificity like the Samaritan.
Two – there have been some responses to the gospel that go like this, “I’m certain that my (relative, close friend, etc.) was not a Christian. And I don’t want him/her to suffer alone.” This story proves that the unsaved person would gladly have them not come join them.
