Marshall Fire Day 5…

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6.

I told myself, “I told you so!” We love Colorado, but not today…
The ice would not scrape off!
That’s the sun!
Our first job today was almost entirely performed by these two beautiful ladies…
Jewelry box. Brought tears of joy to the property owner…
Thanks again Saint Ambrose!

Marshall Fire, Day 2…

Leaving Santa Fe on I25 North.
I’m taking this as a really bad sign.
If you have ever traveled I25 north of Santa Fe, the first 55 miles go in directions other than north. I have complained about this for around twenty years and it is still the same. This is how it should look, heading north.
Arrived safe! Praise the Lord and thanks to all who have prayed for us and David and Sue. We will be assisting property owners for the next few weeks.

Ecclesiastes chapter 12…

“You contribute nothing to your salvation except the sin that made it necessary.” – Jonathan Edwards

The best thing possible to the man under the sun, the natural man. A poetic picture of old age. Verse 1- Get back to God, Solomon advises. Do it while you are young. The description of old age in this chapter is accurate. this chapter is amazing and a must read!

Verse 2- You don’t see as well as you did in your youth.

Verse 3- The keepers are the legs. They tremble, they stumble, and they make us groan. We no longer stand erect, we stoop with our shoulders. Grinders are teeth. Yikes! We need more light to read.

Verse 4- The hearing goes away, but the slightest of sounds wakes us. you don’t sing as well as before, it’s harder to carry a tune.

Verse 5- You don’t like heights. You don’t like to fly. Fear can dominate your life, you just don’t enjoy taking the chances that you used to. A blossoming almond tree is white on top, like us older people. Little things can become a burden. Less tolerant, more little inconveniences bother us. Romance is Gone.?..? The long home is eternity. Death is creeping up!

Verse 6- Organs of the body. The silver cord is the spinal column. the golden bowl is your head for your brain. The pitcher is the lungs. The wheel is the heart.

Verse 7- No such thing as soul sleep. The body sleeps, but the spirit or the soul returns to God that gave it.

Verse 8- When as a child, I laughed and wept, Time crept; When as a youth, I dreamed and talked, Time walked; When I became a full grown man, Time ran; When older still I daily grew, Time flew; Soon I shall find in travelling on, Time gone. Author unknown.

Thou knowest, Lord, I’m growing older. My fire of youth begins to smolder; I somehow tend to reminisce And speak of good old days I miss. I am more moody, bossy, and Think folk should jump at my command. Help me, Lord, to conceal my aches And realize my own mistakes. Keep me sweet, silent, sane, serene, Instead of sour, crusty, and mean. Author unknown

May the Lord, give us the grace to grow old gracefully!

Above all, FEAR GOD, keeping your eyes out for the final Day of Judgement. With all of the complaints Solomon had about the nature of creation, there is no doubt as to the existence and justice of the Creator. God is mentioned at least forty times in this book….

Jesus Christ is the only solution for life’s problems. Jesus has given His promise to people of any and all ages…”…him that comes to Me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37).

Ecclesiastes chapter 10…

Looking at the injustice in the world. A wise man once told me, “We are all one decision away from stupid.” One moment away from a sin that can have devastating effects.

Verse 2, the right hand is the hand of strength. If you are wise, that is where your heart will be, at your right hand. Whatever you do , do it with heart, do it for the glory of God.

Verse 3, a fool never has to carry a sign about him that says he is a fool. You will know as soon as he speaks.

Verse 8, be careful with sin. If you are a child of God, you will not get by with it. Eventually God will judge that sin.

Verse 10, keep your tools sharp and in top condition. Put in the work to keep your tools in shape. Read and study the Word of God, and be ready for His call.

Verse 11, people in the church will do and say things that hurt, even those that are supposed to protect the flock.

Verses 12-15, the fool, the foolish, the foolishness of the fool. Beware the fool. No common sense can be found in the fool.

Verse 17-18, alcohol has destroyed so many lives. Don’t be lazy

Remember life under the sun. Come to the cross and seek the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!!

Ecclesiastes Chapter 7-9….

Chapter 7, looking at man’s sin, looking at the incurable evil of man, that “man under the sun,” that man that is unilluminated by God’s Spirit, that man sees no advantage in being righteous. In versus 13-21, that man has fuzzy thinking with regard to spiritual things, not getting the meaning of life on this earth and how life ends. Verse 12 speaks to my heart, “For wisdom (Jesus) is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom (Jesus) giveth life to them that have it.” Jesus Christ is wisdom!

Chapter 8. Looking at the mystery of the divine providences, at life’s uncertainties. The man under the sun, without a Savior, can concentrate on nothing, floundering, only occasionally giving a nod to wisdom. He only acknowledges the king’s rule. To this man life is a riddle and no absolutes about the future can be known. Nothing about life in general can be known. Utter sadness. Death really is a mystery to the unsaved man.

Chapter 9. Looking at the world’s wrong standard of values. Pay your debts, be honest, live a good life. By now, you have to wonder how this book got into the Bible. Solomon is speaking of life apart from God.

We all need to look to and seek Wisdom, Jesus Christ the Savior…

Ecclesiastes chapter 11

Looks at the best way of travel for the man under the sun.

Verse 5, “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.” The Lord Jesus said, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8). Don’t let what you don’t know mess with what you do know. Look at the chair in the photo above. Every one knows how to sit in a chair. People say, here sit down, have a sit, take a chair, rest your feet, take a load off. You probably will sit right down without giving one moment of thought about the chair. How is the chair constructed? Who built the chair? Was it this fellas first day on the job? What type of materials did he use? Probably none of these questions go through your mind as you just sit in the chair by faith.

“For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).”

Pursing Wealth concludes…

In chapter 6, Solomon concludes his search for happiness through money. The rich man can only eat so much a day, he can only sleep in one bed at a time. He will live no longer then the poor man. When the rich man leaves this world he will take nothing with him. There is no pocket in a shroud, no U-Haul attached to the coffin. Look at the book of Job. Job was a rich man and he said that he came into the world with nothing and will leave this world with nothing. It is pointless giving your life to the pursuit of what does not bring happiness here, and adding no value to the hereafter…Dedicate your life to the pursuit of Jesus, that will bring happiness…John 13:17.

Let’s try Religion…

In chapter five Solomon tries something that should be of interest to us all, religion. He intends to find satisfaction in religion, and guess what, he can’t. Through out history, religion has damned more people then it has saved. You can easily research this on your own. The difference between Christianity and all other religions is the Lord Jesus Christ! A relationship, not a religion. If you have religion, kick it to the curb and get Jesus Christ.

Verses 1-8 Solomon tells how he seeks to be satisfied in religion.

Verses 10-14 Solomon now, seeks satisfaction by pursuing enjoyment and wealth. When I was young and unsaved I always believed wealth would be the greatest thing ever. It won’t. Wealth is never condemned in the Bible. Making wealth an idol, that’s wrong. So is being a cheapskate. Both are wrong. One of the things Ecclesiastes teaches us is not to hold onto anything to tightly. Greed, a modern day problem. It has only one cure, Jesus…

Amir Tsarfati…

There are three words that I want to give to you as we close out 2021 and move into 2022 – “Expect good things”. These words are not just a feel-good philosophy. There is no “name it and claim it” health and wealth promise to them. Instead, these words are all about perspective. When your eyes are on God and you are trusting Him and serving Him, then good things will happen. Now, in all honesty, they may not always feel like good things. But faith isn’t built on feelings; it is built on the character of God.

So, because God is our Father and we are His children, we can always expect good things from Him. During this year, if there is ever a point you begin to doubt that truth, just remember to tweak the definition from what you think is “good” to what God promises is “good”. It is that perfect faith in Him that will open the door to the peace that passes all understanding, and which will take us through whatever we may face in the year ahead.

Romans 8:37-39
In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Expect good things from God…

Living for God’s Glory

“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom” (Psalm 90:12 NLT).

Where are you in your life today? Are you in the morning of your life? Are you in the afternoon of your life? Or, are you in the evening of your life?

Of course, I know I’m getting toward the end of my race in life. I don’t know how many more years I will live or how many more years of ministry I will have. But I do know that I’m not in the beginning of it.

Those who are young will say, “I’m in the morning of my life.”

But you never know when the Lord will call you home. My son Christopher was only 33 years old when he was unexpectedly called home to Heaven. So we don’t necessarily know where we are in the race of life.

That’s why we want to be ready to meet God. We need to realize that Jesus died on the cross for us, and we need to turn from our sins and ask Him to come into our lives. Then we will find the meaning and purpose of life that we’ve been seeking. Not only that, but we will have hope for the afterlife.

So what kind of difference is your life making? What kind of legacy are you leaving?

My prayer is that you will live a life that is worth emulating. Corrie ten Boom was a very godly woman who suffered horrible things during the Holocaust, including imprisonment at the Ravensbruck concentration camp, and she lived to tell the story. She made this statement: “The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation.”

We think that success is a long life. Well, maybe success is a long life—if it is lived for the glory of God. But even if it’s a short life, if it’s lived for God’s glory, that is still a success. It is not the duration but the donation.

All is Vanity…

Chapters 1-4 of the Book of Ecclesiastes. Solomon’s theme is vanity of vanities, all is vanity. This is a problem that he states. Solomon begins his search for the solution, by conducting experiments. In chapter 1 verses 4-11 he looks to science and finds some startling facts about our world. Evaporation and storm currents, the sun, the wind, the rivers and the seas. Wisdom and philosophy are then studied in verses 12-18. In chapter 2 Solomon begins what is very popular today, pleasure. Only to discover that pleasure ends in emptiness. Verses 12-26 he tries living for the now, materialism. Chapter 3, the weary round of life, fatalism. Take life as it comes. If you can’t fight them, join them. I see nothing wrong with… Solomon transitions into egotism, excessive love of self. Chapter 4 Solomon continues searching for satisfaction through the philosophy of egotism. Verse 7, all is wrong, any direction you go, it’s wrong. There is no way out. Sounds like today. Verse 13, Solomon was two things, a very wise child, and a very foolish king….

Savior

Why God Sent a Savior
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45 NLT).
I heard about a couple that was going out of town for the Christmas weekend. They packed their luggage, dropped off the dog at a friend’s house, and then loaded up their SUV.
They pulled out of the driveway and were driving down the street when the woman suddenly turned to her husband and said, “We forgot the baby!” They had to go back and collect their child, whom they had left in the house.
That’s what Christmas is like for many people. How easy it is to miss the whole point. We trim our trees, hang our lights, and attend endless events, but we forget about the Baby.
Did Jesus come to this earth so that we could shop and spend too much money on Christmas presents? Of course not. He actually came with the express purpose of dying on a cross for our sins. He said that He came “to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45 NLT).
That is the whole point. He came to bring life to us, to bring the ultimate gift to us. Death finally was defeated when Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Let’s not miss this because God is offering us the most amazing gift of all: eternal life.
We are all made in the image of God, but to be theologically correct, we are not all children of God. The only way we can become children of God is by accepting the gift of eternal life that God offers us.
The Bible says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12 NKJV). There has to be a moment when you admit to God that you’re a sinner, turn from your sin, and ask Jesus to come into your life.
That is why God sent a Savior.

Receive Him today! Don’t wait. There is no better day than today!

Jesus…

Jesus Never Had an Identity Crisis
DECEMBER 25
She brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger…. Luke 2:7 “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well-pleased.” Matthew 3:17 “This is My beloved Son…hear ye Him.” Matthew 17:5
Jesus never had an identity crisis. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus never said, “I am ONE way to God.” He didn’t say, “I am A life.” Jesus said, “I am THE way, I am THE truth, I am THE life.” And God says, “He is My dear Son.”
In the Gospel of John, Jesus said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Not “I was,” but “I am.” He is the great I AM. He didn’t have His beginning at Bethlehem. He never had a beginning. He has always existed.
The One who created the universe not only has this whole world in His hands, but He has the past, the present, and the future in His hands.
Sing, choirs of angels! Sing in exaltation. Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above! Glory to God, all glory in the highest. O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him. O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!”

Amen!!!…Thanks to Dr. Adrian Rogers and Love Worth Finding ministries for this devotion…

The Book of Ecclesiastes…

Sololmon wrote the Book of Proverbs and the Book of Ecclesiastes. The wisdom of Solomon is in Proverbs, the foolishness of Solomon in Ecclesiastes. Human philosophy apart from God. It is important to remember this as some statements contradict other statements made in scripture. Without Christ man cannot be satisfied, this is the teaching of Ecclesiastes. The world is unable to satisfy the human heart. Only Jesus Christ can fill the hole that is in the human heart.

“Vanity” is the key word, it occurs thirty-seven times. The key phrase is “under the sun,” which occurs twenty-nine times. “I said in my heart,” a man’s heart. Conclusions that men reach through their own intelligence.

Come to Jesus today…

Unto us…

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
For there is born to you this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

[Luke 2:10-11, NKJV]

“It is because the spirit of unselfish service personified by the life and the teachings of Christ makes appeal to the inner conscience and hope of every man and every woman in every part of the earth. It transcends in the ultimate all lines of race, of habitat, of nation. It lives in the midst of war, of slavery, of conquest. It survives prohibitions and decrees and force. It is an unquenchable Spring of Promise to humanity.” President Franklin Roosevelt.

[W]e remember another night long ago. Then a Child was born in a stable. A star hovered over, drawing wise men from afar. Shepherds, in a field, heard angels singing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” That was the first Christmas and it was God’s great gift to us. This is a wonderful story. Year after year it brings peace and tranquility to troubled hearts in a troubled world. And tonight the earth seems hushed, as we turn to the old, old story of how “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” President Harry Truman.

“An angel of the Lord appeared to them [shepherds] and said: “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of voices praising the Heavenly Father and singing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of holiday preparations we forget that the true meaning of Christmas was given to us by the angelic host that holy night long ago. Christmas is the commemoration of the birth of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, whose message would truly be one of good tidings and great joy, peace and good will.” President Ronald Reagan.

Scripture!

Hebrews 10:37-39
“For yet a little while,
And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”

But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Proverbs 31…

You could title this chapter, “All you need to find a wife.”

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Verse 10.

A woman of character, a woman of strength is the meaning of “Virtuous.” She is a woman of real ability.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. Verse 11.

This wife is faithful, she is good with money. She is a helpmate, not a servant! This is what God has intended for us, His children. God made Eve to be the other half of Adam. Adam was only a half of a man until God made Eve and gave her to him. This is absolutely true as you look at any successful marriage where God is put first…

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Verse 12- She is a real helpmeet…

She seekth wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. Verse 13- She doesn’t mind working.

She is like the merchants’ ships; she brings her food from afar. Verse 14. She is a bargain hunter, spending money wisely.

She rises also while it is yet night, and gives meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. Verse 15.

She is a wonderful mother, knows how to work in shifts, and keeps a good house.

She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard….She girds her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. Verses 16-17.

A woman of ability!

She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night. Verse 18.

Proven by her, “Man’s work is from Sun to sun, but a woman’s work is never done.”

She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff….She stretches out her hand to the poor; yes, she reaches forth her hands to the needy. Verses 19-20.

She is a giving, generous person

She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Verse 26.

She is both wise and kind in her advice and admonitions.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Verse 30.

A woman that fears the Lord is the most most important thing!

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Verse 31.

Don’t wait for Mother’s Day to honor our mothers.

Proverbs 29…

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18.

The word “Vision” really means spiritual understanding. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer, giving understanding of the Word of God.

Spiritual discernment is one of the gifts that God has given to the church, an understanding of His Word, the Word of God.

The fear of man brings a snare: but whoso puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe. Proverbs 29:25

And then there is this verse- “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

God’s children of every age have found comfort in this verse. A pillar of strength that is timeless…

Proverbs 24:10…

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Proverbs 24:10.

God uses times of stress, strain, and testing to develop our spiritual character. This is the way God grows us. It is at these times that we bring forth the spiritual strength that we have.

Look at God’s Word for examples to us, Elijah in 1 Kings 19 and David as he was hunted by King Saul. Both became very discouraged, but Elijah and David learned in their lowest times that the Lord would and did give them strength.

Proverbs 23:26…

“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.“ Proverbs 23:26

Someone once told us that you can’t trust your heart, your heart is desperately wicked. That’s right if you are not saved, not born again. God here, is talking to His child. He is talking to the one that He has given a new heart, a new nature, one that has been born again. God is saying to this person, “I want you to come to Me and I want you to yield yourself to Me. If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

If you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, you can sing:

Take my poor heart, and let it be

Forever closed to all but Thee

Take my love, my Lord; I pour

At Thy feet it’s treasure- store.

C.S. Lewis…

“In God you come against something which is in every respect immeasurably superior to yourself. Unless you know God as that – and therefore, know yourself as nothing in comparison – you do not know God at all.” – CS Lewis

“A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher; he would be either a lunatic, on the level of a man who says he’s a poached egg, or else he would be the devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was and is the Son of God or else a mad man or something worse.” – CS Lewis

“You can show Him up for a fool. You can spit at Him. You can kill Him as a demon. Or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let none of us come away with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great teacher. He’s not left that open to us.” – CS Lewis

Club Forever

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:15

Most of the Walt Disney parks have an exclusive area known as Club 33, a VIP lounge modeled after the private areas of the 1967 World’s Fair. Walt Disney wanted an area where he could conduct business and entertain high-income guests. Club 33 locations are hidden in the various parks, and most tourists walk by them without knowing they’re there. It takes years to join the club. There’s a $33,000 initiation charge plus an annual $15,000 fee.

As for Walt Disney himself? He passed away six months before the club’s official opening, so he never experienced the luxury he designed.

All our lounges and luxuries and worldly trappings disappear from our view the moment we pass away, so it’s best to live as unattached to them as possible. On the other hand, the followers of Christ can look forward to Club Forever—our eternal inheritance in the new heavens, new earth, and New Jerusalem. We can’t afford the admission cost, but Jesus paid it for us.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.

Proverbs Chapter 19…

Verse 1- “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.“ There are only two different people in the human family, save and unsaved. God is really color blind…

Verse 2- “A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.”

A modern proverb- “If I stop to think before I speak, I won’t have to worry afterward about what I said before.”

Verse 3- “When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.”

A modern proverb- “Some persons cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.”

Verse 8- “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.”

A modern proverb- “Be considerate. Most people know how to express a complaint, but few utter a gracious compliment. The bee is seldom complimented for making honey; it is just criticized for stinging.”

Verse 14- “The spirit of man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”

A modern proverb – “Joy is the flag that is flown in the heart when the Master is in residence.”

Verse 24- “…and there is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

Jesus is the One! Jesus is the friend that will stick closer than a brother. He is our Savior. He loved us enough to die for us. He says “…lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world…” (Matt. 28:20) and “…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” Jesus gave us this promise: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3). Do you know Him? He is a wonderful Friend…

The Day of Atonement…

And this shall be an everlasting statue unto to you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses (Lev. 16:34).

The Day of Atonement is the only day of mourning and fasting that God had given to His people. This day was to be observed until the permanent and eternal day for sin came . That was fulfilled by the death of Jesus Christ.

“Man of sorrows!” what a name

For the Son of God who came

Ruined sinners to reclaim!

Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,

In my place condemned He stood;

Sealed my pardon with His blood;

Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Guilty, vile and helpless, we;

Spotless Lamb of God was He:

“Full atonement!” can it be?

Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

“Lifted up” was He to die,

“It is finished,” was His cry

Now in heav’n exalted high;

Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

When He comes, our glorious King,

All His ransomed home to bring,

Then anew this song we’ll sing:

Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Root of Bitterness…

Hebrews 12: 14-15- Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

“ I went to my psychiatrist to be psycho analyzed to find out why I killed my cat and blackened my wife’s eyes. He put me on a downy couch to see what he could find, and this is what he dredged up from my subconscious mind. When I was one, my mommy hid my dolly in the trunk and so it follows naturally that I am always drunk. When I was two, I saw my father kiss the maid one day, that’s why I suffer from kleptomania. When I was three, I suffered ambivalence from my brothers, so it follows naturally that I poisoned all my lovers. I’m so glad I have the lesson it has taught, that everything I do that is wrong, is someone else’s fault.” Anna Russell.

Proverbs 12:4

“ A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” Proverbs 12:4.

The first part of this verse makes us think of those women mentioned in the Old Testament. Eve, despite listening to the servant must have been a wonderful lady. First Peter 3:6 tells us that Sarah was a model wife. Jochebed was Moses mom, another remarkable woman.

The last part of this verse should bring to mind Job’s wife. She was not much of a help to him. She could very well be described as “rottenness in his bones.” Interestingly, Satan took away everything from Job, except Job’s wife. Hence her advice, curse God and die. Thanks Honey…

To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup, Whenever you’re wrong, admit it; Whenever you’re right, shut up. Ogden Nash.

Psalm 116…

“I will offer to you a sacrifice, Of thanksgiving and call on Your name.” Psalm 116:17

The word “thanksgiving “ comes from the Hebrew word “today” and it means two things: first is to give thanks by the spoken word, and second, it means to give thanks by an action.

Our acceptance of God’s Covenant love should be followed by our actions. We become God’s missionaries!

From “The Complete Psalms In Meter by Ryan Stewart.

Today-Tomorrow…

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

I read some research by psychologist William Morriston who reported that 94% of the 3,000 persons he surveyed were enduring today in order to get to tomorrow.

Do you know anyone like that? Perhaps you are one of those.

Tomorrow, you’re going on vacation. Tomorrow, you’re going to get the house cleaned. Tomorrow, you’re going to start your diet. Tomorrow, you’re going to balance your checkbook. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.

The only problem is … tomorrow never arrives. When it gets here, it is today. And today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

It is always today. Act accordingly!

Dr. Adrian Rogers

Tell God…

Tell God all that is in your heart, as one unloads one’s heart, it’s pleasures, and it’s pains, to a dear friend. Tell Him your troubles, that He may comfort you tell Him your joys, that He may sober them, tell Him your longings, that He may purify them, tell Him your dislikes, that He may help you conquer them, talk to Him of your temptations, that He may shield you from them, show Him the wounds of your heart, that He may heal them, lay bare your indifference to good, your depraved tastes for evil, your instability. Tell Him how self-love makes you unjust to others, how vanity tempts you to be insincere, how pride disguises you to yourself and others. If you thus pour out your weaknesses, needs, troubles, there will be no lack of what to say. You will never exhaust the subject. It is continually being renewed. People who have no secrets from each other never want for subject of conversation. They do not weigh their words, for there is nothing to be held back, neither do they seek for something to say. They talk out of the abundance of their heart, without consideration they say just what they think. Blessed are they who attain to such familiar, unreserved intercourse with God. Francois Fenelon.

What if???…

What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things that you thanked God for today?

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Thy wondrous works.” Psalm 26:7.

“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.” Psalm 95:2.

Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One…

Leviticus, chapter 1: 1-3

Verse 1. “And the Lord called” – God is calling anyone that will hear His voice. So important, God is calling to men and women today to be reconciled to Him. Called out- the church is a called out body. Look at 1 Cor. 1:22-24. Called, not just those that hear, also those that have heard and responded.

Verse 2. “If any man” means “ whosoever will may come.”

Verse 3. “He shall offer it of his own voluntary will.” This is, FREE WILL! “If any man thirst, let him come…” An invitation from Jesus Christ that is for everyone in the human family. Nobody is left out. The only condition is , you have to be thirsty. Read Isa. 55:1. Anyone can come to Christ if he or she chooses to come.

Joshua Tree displaced camping

We entered Joshua Tree National Park, but no room at the inn for us. All of the first come first serve campgrounds were full, and we did not plan ahead to reserve one. So we drove through the park and left for a free spot on BLM ground.
This turned out to be a really nice parking spot. Everyone was very dispersed. It was very dark with lots of stars to watch.

Heard this today….”Women- last at the Cross, first at the tomb.”

Off to the Races…

Glen Helen Raceway in California. We traveled here to watch our friend Bruce and three of his racing buddies compete in the World Vet Nationals.
A lot of rules, not many were followed…
Our campsite before we were parked in from all sides. It was reported from 750-1300 racers. There sure were a lot of bikes…
I think this is the fella that prayed before each race day. That was nice…
Me too!
The weather was cold morning’s, very warm day and cold again by dinner time…
This is a high speed part of the track.
This is Glade from Colorado racing in the plus 70 class. There was also a plus 80 class…
This rider got hit by another rider. We prayed for him and hope he is recovering.
This is the start of Bruce’s race. He is number 5 if you can see him in this poorly shot video…
There is a flying pig at this track, not sure what he represents but Norm really liked it.
We dry camped from Thursday till Sunday and drove a few miles to a full hookup site at a San Bernardino county park.
It wasn’t much to look at, but it worked great for us…

Psalm 119…

Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore does my soul keep them (Psalm 119:129).

“Jesus the eternal Word is called Wonderful, and all the uttered words of God are wonderful in their degree. Those who know them best wonder at them most.” Charles Spurgeon.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments (Psalm 119:176).

Psalm 119

Psalm 119’s theme is Praise to the Word of God.

As believers we need this today. Praise to the Word of God. We don’t need more programs, methods, or ceremonies, we need the Word of God.

“God is going to win. There will be more saved than there will be lost.” Charles Spurgeon.

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.” 1 Peter 1:23.

“It is strange that of all the pieces of the Bible which my mother taught me, that which cost me the most to learn, and which was to my childish mind most repulsive- the 119th Psalm- has now become of all the most precious to me in its overflowing and glorious passion of love for the Law of God.” John Ruskin.

“Walked from Hyde Park corner, repeating the 119th Psalm in great comfort.” William Wilberforce.

Read this beautiful Psalm and look for these terms, “saying, way, testimonies, judgments, precepts, commandments, law, statues, and faithfulness.”

The Lord…

I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? Psalm 118: 5-6.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes. For the Lord shall keep thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Proverbs 3: 25-26.

Abide…

John chapter 15 is the ‘Abide’ chapter of the Bible…

Verse 4, Abide in me…except ye abide in me.

Verse 5, He that abideth in Me…

Verse 6, If a man not abide in Me…

Verse 7, If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you…

Verse 10, If you keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love… and abide in His love.

Reading, meditating, memorizing, and studying the Word of God is how we abide in God. We need to become strong spiritually.

Holiness is not freedom from temptation, but power to overcome temptation. G. Campbell Morgan.

Be Brave…

“The first prayer I want my son to learn to say for me is not, “God keep Daddy safe,” but, “God make Daddy brave. “ And if he has hard things to do, make him strong to do them.”
Son, life and death don’t matter. But right and wrong do. Daddy dead is Daddy still, but Daddy dishonored before God is something too awful for words.”
Studdard Kennedy, Chaplain, World War II.

Good Point….

A Pastor who got tired of hearing reasons why people don’t go to church, have quit coming, decided he would quit bathing and gave the reasons why.

1. I was forced to as a child.

2. People who wash are hypocrites, they think they are cleaner than anyone else.

3. So many different kinds of soap, I can’t decide which is best for me.

4. I used to wash, but I got bored and stopped.

5. I wash only on special occasions, like Easter and Christmas.

6. None of my friends wash.

7. I’ll start washing when I get older and dirtier.

8. I can’t spare the time.

9. The bathroom is never warm enough in the winter or cool enough in the summer.

10. The people that make soap are only after your money.

I AM…

I was regretting the past and fearing the future and I heard the Lord God say to me, “My name is I Am. If you live in the past it will be very hard for I Am is not there. My name is not I was. If you live in the future it will be very hard for my name is not I will be. But if you live in the present it is not hard for my name is I Am.”

Psalm 71, A Psalm for old age…

Please read this wonderful Psalm. It was written by some older person, maybe David as an old man. Things we can learn, to pray and trust, don’t give up, God has kept you here for a purpose. I/we need to talk less about our aches and pains and more about the Lord and sing His praises. “My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long…” Good stuff…

How do these things happen…

I still do not know how I get myself into these situations. A week ago, I was asked if I knew anyone that could replace a leaking hot water heater? Of course, I don’t know anyone that can install a hot water heater. What’s the problem? They got a price from someone for $1500.00! Fifteen hundred dollars? So I say, don’t do anything, let me check around. Of course, I still don’t know anyone that can install a hot water heater. So, I tell Norm about this conversation, and she says, you could do it. I say, no, I can’t. Norm gives me the look. So, the next day we stop by the ailing hot water heater and I take a photo of the old one and we drive off 47 miles to Home Depot. I find the one I think we need, secure a flat cart. Norm has gone off to some where unknown, so I am struggling to load it up on the cart when an employee comes from nowhere to help. I ask him, can you lay these heaters flat? No more then thirty minutes. Thirty minutes, I say it takes me almost an hour to get home. Norm finally shows up and after a lengthy discussion we leave the hot water heater. Our first trip to Home Depot. After some thought, we secured a trailer for our second trip to Home Depot, 47 miles one way. Day after next we zipped in and picked up hot water heater number one. Now that we had a heater, we had to find someone smarter than me to install it. Norm’s brother came to the rescue. We showed up with tools and heater, got the broken one out, unboxed the new one. After trying for some length of time to jam the new one in the space of the old one, there was just no way a short fat heater was going to fit. After some research, who knew that hot water heaters came in short and fat and tall and skinny? Trip number three, 47 miles back to Home Depot, which did not have any tall and skinny units. A no problem return and a trip across the highway to Lowe’s, which carries tall and skinny ones. The following day we threw the new unit in, made all of the connections and turned the water on. Yes, you guessed it, the only connection that I put together, started to leak. After a new and improved Teflon tape job, no leaks. Like I said, I don’t know how I get into these things…
